Plants and Animals Both plants and animals are complex organisms made up of many parts
that work together to keep them alive. Plants and animals, along with all other organisms, must
also reproduce and pass on their genetic material to avoid dying out. Plants can make their own
food through photosynthesis while animals must eat food to survive. Animals can move freely in
their environment but plants are generally rooted in one place. Animals have highly developed
senses such as hearing and sight, while plants' senses are less developed.
• Choose a plant structure and animal structure that serve a similar function in each
organism. Describe the structures and how they each organism survive.
