History Current Events

Instructions:
Find and read one article that is related to history. It can be about any of the topics we are
studying this year (THE EVENT MUST BE BEFORE 1980). You can find the article in a
newspaper, a recent magazine, or on the internet. The article must be no more than 3 months
old. The article must be at least 3 paragraphs long.
Attach a copy of the article, and make sure that you identify what news source it came from
and its date. (2 points)
Vocabulary Words: highlight three words in the article that you don’t know (or, if there are not
three that you don’t know, choose three that are difficult) and write them with their definitions
copied from a dictionary. (3 points)
First Paragraph: write a one-paragraph summary of the article in your own words. A paragraph
consists of AT LEAST five well-constructed sentences. Use your best writing and be careful
and thorough. (7.5 points)
Second Paragraph: write a one-paragraph description of what YOU THINK about the issue
discussed in the article. A paragraph consists of AT LEAST five well-constructed sentences.
Use your best writing and be thoughtful and complete. (7.5 points)
