These supplies are needed:
a baby-food jar filled with water (The jar should be placed somewhere in the room where sunlight will not reach it. Set it aside for at least half hour before using it.)
a thermometer
Follow these directions. Read all the directions before starting the experiment.
1. Place the thermometer in the water. Record the temperature on the chart below.
2. Put the water in direct sunlight. (Do not leave the thermometer in the jar or in sunlight.)
3. Find the temperature of the water every five minutes. Record the temperatures on the chart below.
4. After 20 minutes, remove the water from the sunlight.
5. Continue to record the temperature every five minutes. (You may go to the next part of
this unit as you wait between the readings.)
