Caroline is my best friend, and she loves really bright colors. The other day she proudly wore a new shirt with bright pink, orange, and purple stripes. "Isn't it great!" she exclaimed.
"Wow," I said, smiling weakly, "that's really . . . ,begin italics,something,end italics,."
"I'll let you borrow it," she said, looking happily in the mirror. "After all, what are friends for?"
"That's really thoughtful," I said hurriedly, "but I wouldn't dream of taking your favorite shirt."
"Aw, that's sweet," she beamed. "You are the best friend ever!"
