Reread the second paragraph (begins with "On the occasion..."). How did Lincoln use the connotation (a quality or an idea that
a word makes you think of that is more than its basic meaning) of the word "insurgent" to reveal his view of the South? Why
didn't he, for example, use a synonym such as "revolutionary"?
