In this unit, you have looked at different types of characters in fiction and in drama. Characters are essential to a story because they help move the story forward. Some characters undergo significant changes over the course of the story. Often, the reader may find that a character is easy to relate to. Or the reader may find that a character has qualities that he or she wishes to have.

Choose a character that you enjoyed reading about from a story or a drama. Which character did you choose? Why do you like this character? Can you relate to the character? Explain why. Are there any qualities of the character that you wish you had? If so, explain why you would like to have those qualities. What did you learn from the character?
