Choose 1 of the 3 questions below to answer. Your writing must have an intro, body, and conclusion. 1 full page as provided in next page would be adequate. If you need more space, you may use the back of the page. 1) What is so crucial about the role of the Presidency? What makes it so special besides being the commander-in-Chief of the U.S. armed forces? Discuss how this role shapes our country, leadership, race relations, and/or moral compass? Cite some examples from class discussion, news outlets, or other scholarly publications to support your discussion. 2) American political institutions were created with the idea of controlling powers between the three branches of our government. Discuss a few notable powers that were part of this attempt to prevent the abuse of powers. For example, the President could nominate people to serve as secretary of state, agriculture, labor, defense, or fill a supreme court vacancy. However, they are not automatically sworn in. The Senate has to confirm them. Another one - the SCOTUS has the final say on whether an issue is constitutional, but it cannot create lower courts. That power belongs to Congress. Congress has the power to make laws, but the President can veto bills. 3) Discuss the neoconservatives or neocons' tenets and how they have shaped American foreign policy in the last three decades. In addition, how did the neocons practice American Exceptionalism? Cite examples discussed in class or world events the US was directly/indirectly involved in to support your discussion.
