When it comes to goals, I believe they are extremely important because if you have no goals, you have no destination in life. You will be undecided on what you want to do and what you want to be as you get older. Your priorities will be disorganized. You can utilize the SMART goals concept by sticking to the acronym Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant and Time bound. You must be specific with what you're doing to achieve your personal and career goals. Making your goals measurable by setting yourself some limits that are not too difficult. Your personal and career goals need to be actionable, by giving your goals some value so you can act on it. Whatever your doing needs to be relevant to what your personal and career goals are, meaning it needs to be connected to what your personal and career goals are. Last but not least, your personal and career goals need to be time bound. You don't want to be spending too much time on one detail that is impossible when you could be almost complete with your personal and career goals. I also feel that you need to keep your personal and career goals separate. If your personal goal is to lose weight and your career goal is to become a surgical tech, you will find a way to work out while in class. Although some people may be able to do that, I am not one of them. I also feel that working on one goal at a time will keep you from getting stressed out because if one of the goals that your working on isn't going as smoothly as the other then it will cause some frustration and may be cause you to give up or put that goal on hold and take on another. I strongly agree that you must use the SMART goals concept when creating and achieving personal and career goals.
