On the 5th, nearly 1,500 women in our country staged a sit-in demonstration at the Colorado State Capitol to demand an end to gun violence.

The women, all mothers of children, were shaken by the mass shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in March that killed six people, including three children.

Colorado, home to our country's notorious mass shootings, was chosen as the site of the demonstration's first action. The demonstration was aimed at calling on Colorado Gov. Jared Polis to sign an executive order declaring a 30-day state of emergency during which gun sales would be suspended.
