At this rate how far can it run in a quarter of an hour?
Did you know?
Wild rabbits are one of the most invasive species of pest in Australia, causing millions of dollars worth of damage to crops each year.
Australia did not have any species of rabbits pre-colonisation, and the current infestation on the mainland is due to the Englishman Thomas Austin, who brought 24 wild rabbits from England to his property in Barwon Park, Victoria for "a touch of home, in addition to a spot of hunting."
In 1950 those 24 rabbits had multiplied to an estimated 600 million, so we can safely assume that Mr. Austin was not as good a hunter as he once thought!
