Water Bath Temp (⁰C) of the bath Trial 1: Volume (mL) Air Trial 2: Volume (mL)
Pick one: H2/He/N2
Ice and saltwater -14.8 4.3 4.2
Ice water 0.4 4.7 4.6
Room temp water 21.5 5.2 5.2
Warm water 48.2 5.4 5.5
Hot water 81.1 5.9 5.9
One of the gas laws equations states v1 over t1 = v2 over t2 . You will calculate V2 values (theoretical) and compare them to measured values for air and your chosen gas. First, convert temperature to Kelvin. Then, write volumes of the gases from the ice and saltwater bath above.
What are the theoretical values of V2 based on those initial measurements? Convert the temperatures to Kelvin for the warm and hot water baths. Then, use the gas law equation to determine what V2 should be for each trial for the last two baths. Show your work. There should be four calculations of V2.
