INFECTION CONTROL PATIENT CARE SCENARIOS
Patient Scenario #3-PPE:
Brian Jermez, a 17-year-old male, was admitted with an erythematous wound with purulent drainage noted on his right lower arm. Mr. Jermez % pain at the wound site. Then wound care nurse, Mr. James Cutter, RN, dons PPE before entering the room. Nurse Cutter greets the patient and checks patient identification using two patient identifiers. Nurse Cutter swabs the wound and sends the labeled specimen to the lab. Mr. Jermes was diagnosed with MRSA.
