In a separate browser window, navigate to the USGS Earthquake Hazard Map. Under 'Settings', change the display to '30 Days, Significant Worldwide'. Zoom out until you can see the continental US. For the one significant earthquake in the continental US in the past 30 days, click on the EQ's name to bring up a small summary window of statistics, which include the earthquake's depth and magnitude. Interpret how its depth and magnitude combine to generate the experience felt on the surface (i.e., its Modified Mercalli Intensity as displayed by its ShakeMap, which you can also click to through the summary window).
