I chose the Black Lives Matter movement, which is based on discrimination, racism and bias. Black Lives Matter has been around since 2013, but became prominent with George Floyd's shooting by police . This event seemed to really spark this movement and protest, although he was just one of many that were a victim to unwarranted police brutality. (Buchman, L 2020), Multiculturalism is a huge factor in BLM, because these protests also sparked conversations between people about the differences minorities face versus a Caucasian person. Not only that, but it highlighted different cultures and ethnicities within the Black community (Buchman, L 2020). Black Lives Matter was arguably the biggest movement of 2020 and it put on display multicultural and racial issues the United States still faces. The movement was so large that it was protested internationally (Buchman, L 2020). Years from now, when people look back at the Black Lives Matter movement, they will remember it as being one of the most significant racial protests to date.
