This 16-week-pregnant patient was brought to the operating suite and prepped and draped in the usual fashion. A speculum was placed to view the cervix. The cervix was grasped with a tenaculum, and a dilator was inserted into the endocervix. A cannula was passed into the uterus, and a suction machine was used to evacuate the contents by rotating the cannula. To ensure that the uterus was emptied of all contents, a sharp curette was used to scrape the uterine wall. The patient tolerated the procedure and was sent to the recovery area in satisfactory condition."
