Scenario #2 After months of reviewing this case, the justices have decided to hear the testimony from each party. The attorney general for the state of Virginia went first. They claimed that the land that Maryland had taken is part of a tract of land that dates back to 1680, when it was given to the state of Virginia. Then the justices heard the testimony of the Maryland’s attorney general. Maryland claimed – and provided plenty of evidence proving - that the land had been used by a prominent Maryland company for 120 years. The justices found in favor of Maryland in a 7-2 decision.
