In each of these cases, we will analyze how changing the sizes of different spherical particles/grains (a little unrealistic, but spheres are the easiest shape to use) change porosity and permeability. In each of these, we are filling a 1 m X 1 m X 1m cube with spheres (balls). Calculate the volume, surface area, and porosity for each of the scenarios. Assume the spheres have cubic packing, like this image showing spheres with a 0.25 m radius inside a 1 m3 cube (image from researchgate.net). Be careful about calculating the number of spheres in the last two examples.
