About Ruby bridges.

Ruby Bridges born on the 8th of September, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi. By the age of two she and her family moved to New Orleans to seek for a better life and opportunity’s. Due to the 1954 Supreme Court ruling of Brown vs. The Board of Education let to the order of all schools to desegregate. Ruby was one of six kids to pass the test and her parets chose to enrole her and became the first African American to attend the all-white William Frantz Elementary School

Since November 14, 1960 while at Frantz Elementary Ruby faced brutal racism everyday. Parents keeped their kids from school. People were outside the school throwing objects, police had to set up barricades while shes entering school. For her first year at Frantz Ruby had to have a federal marsal to escort her around the school the anger white protestors restrained by barricades. Even got to the point of people threatening her. Only one teacher, Barbara Henry, agreed to teach her. Ruby was the only student in her class because all the other students were pulled out by there parents. The ones who left their kids to school were attacked and threatened by people who were against integration. As the year went on families started to send their children back to school and the protests began to stop.

After her first year at Frantz Elementary things started to get more normal and ruby nolonger needed to be escorted by the federal marshals. She walked to school on here own and was in a classroom with other students. RUby Bridges paved the way for African American children.
