When you dilute a concentrated solution the temperature of that solution goes up. This is why the correct way to dilute a strong acid is to slowly add the acid to the water, rather than the other way around which could result in quick boiling and splashing (Add acid to water heck yes you oughta!). Which do you think has more potential energy, concentrated acid or diluted acid? When you dilute acid is this an exergonic or endergonic process?
