This activity will help you meet these educational goals:
You will conduct a short research project to answer an appropriately focused, self-generated question; locate and synthesize multiple sources on the subject as you investigate it, demonstrating your understanding; develop a research plan and revise it as needed; and plan a piece of writing appropriate to this task using a range of strategies.
Directions
Now, you’ll complete your own mini research project. Submit your responses to each question, and check your answers.
Activity
In this activity, you’ll create a table to plan your research and use it to write a short paragraph. Be sure to copy and paste your responses in your Notebook to use them later in this lesson.
Part A
Think back to the list you made of people you admire at the beginning of this lesson. Choose one person to conduct a mini research project about.
First, identify your subject and research question in the table. Next, explain how you’ll research that person by including the types of sources you’ll use and the specific sub-questions you’ll answer. Use the example response below about Gordon Parks as a guide.
