BIBLIOTHERAPY (TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT EMOTIONS)
We all have feelings and it is important that children understand that their emotional experiences
are normal. However, it is important that children can talk about their emotions, that their feelings
are acknowledged and that children learn to deal with emotions in an appropriate manner.
Because children are young, they often find it difficult to label their emotions. What is often
presented as anger, may be born out of frustration or fear. Parents play an important role in
raising
emotionally intelligent children.
Write a sample letter addressed to the parents, in which you explain the story you have read with
the children to address emotions
and how to deal with your emotions in an appropriate manner
(Section B, Activity 2). Briefly
share what you have tried to achieve in your lesson and the
resource that was used in class. Their
child may want to talk about what they have learned. It is
important that parents understand
the process and can provide additional support. Share and
discuss 5 tips that parents can do to raise
emotionally happy children at home.
