In an attempt to understand the concept of the self beyond its initial George Herbert Mead formulation, we must first understand the idea of the looking-glass self developed by Charles Horton Cooley. The idea of the looking glass self can be broken down into three components:
a) Imagined, Perceived, Reflected
b) Reflexive, Interpretive, Interactive
c) Contemplative, Descriptive, Reactive
d) Reflex, Image, Response
