To complete this first step of the activity, you will provide a written description of where each of the following nine principles of animation is demonstrated in the video “Rings True”: Staging Follow through and overlapping action Secondary action Squash and stretch Anticipation Arc Exaggeration Appeal Slow in and slow out Watch “Rings True” below: Your written description of each principle should consist of the following: The name of the principle identified A brief summary, in a sentence or two, of the action that demonstrates the principle The time at which the action occurs in the video So, for example, if you were watching a clip of a ketchup commercial, your response might look like this: Principle: anticipation A young boy tilts a bottle of ketchup over a plate of French fries and waits for the ketchup to flow. His head is lowered and slightly turned to get a better view of the ketchup as it finally leaves the bottle (0:12). For the remaining three principles listed below, you do NOT have to provide written examples; these principles have separate instructions: Straight ahead action and pose to pose (see Step 2, below) Solid drawing (see Step 3, below) Timing (there will be a separate activity later in the course for this principle)
