Approximately between 7 to 14% of new mothers are affected by "postnatal depression'
which may result from the stress of a complicated delivery. To test the relationship
between the type of delivery and the postnatal depression, a group of 10934 women
were selected. Of the 10545 who delivered naturally, 1025 suffered postnatal
depression. Of the 389 who delivered by voluntary C - section, 48 developed postnatal
depression
a) Create a contingency table with the explanatory variable in the rows and the response
variable in the columns.
b) Find the risk of the postnatal depression for the 'delivered naturally' and construct a
95% confidence interval for it .
c) Find the difference risk of postnatal depression for the 'delivered naturally' and
'voluntary C - section' groups and construct a 95% confidence interval for it.
d) Find the Relative Risk of postnatal depression for 'the 'delivered naturally' and
'voluntary C - section' groups and construct a 95% Confidence interval for it.
