Review the mass and size of an atom. A typical/average hydrogen atom, for example, has a mass of 1.66 x 10-24 g (The mass of a single rice grain is extremely large compared to the mass of a single atom). Would you be able to realistically handle or WEIGH or a dozen or a ream (500) atoms)? How LARGE would a value need to be to describe the number of atoms in a real-life sample (measurable on a balance) of the element hydrogen, or any other element for that matter?
