Millions of Canadians have trouble sleeping. Are you one of them? Do you know what you can do to overcome the problem? First, what you should not do is exercise immediately before bed. Some people mistakenly believe that if they do a heavy workout, they'll be exhausted and fall asleep the minute they turn out the lights.
Wrong. Here's what you should do: Set up a half hour for yourself just before bedtime. You might listen
to music or write in your journal. Have a cup of decaffeinated herbal tea. When you get under the covers, try progressive relaxation. Start with your toes, move to your ankles, your thighs, and on up to your shoulders and neck. Tighten each muscle group to the count of five and then release.
Try it. This method works for most people.
