Two aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid containing 12.43% by weight of H2SO4 (the rest is pure water) and 77.7% by weight of H2SO4 are mixed to form a solution at 18.63% by weight of H2SO4. Taking as a basis a feed of 400 kg/h of the solution at 77.7% H2SO4, it is requested:
a. Draw and label the flow diagram of the process.
b. Calculate the feed ratio (liters of solution at 12.43% H2SO4/liters of solution at 77.7% H2SO4).
c. What feed rate of the 77.7% H2SO4 solution (L/h) would be required to yield 6250 kg/h of the product.
Data:
Density of H2SO4 at 12.43%: 1.139 Kg/L
Density of H2SO4 at 18.63%: 1.213 Kg/L
Density of H2SO4 at 77.7%: 1.498 Kg/L"
