The personal exception theory of gender
A. Locates women's oppression in the structure of capitalism and its interrelationship with
patriarchal gender relations. Tends to see both gender and race as secondary to class.
B. This theory allows us who do not fit into the binary to reconcile our own complex identity with
what we think we know about men and women by assuming we are unique. Is too
self-congratulatory.
C. Gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and class must not be studied in isolation, because they have
intermingled effect on our identity, knowledge, and outcomes.
D. Social constructivism focuses on an individual's learning that takes place because of their
interactions in a group. The role of gender is given in the way the society view female and male.
Someone is said to be doing geneder, when she acts feminan or when acts musculine.
Social contructivilism is a catergory given by the society to differentiate male and female.
