1. Introductory Paragraph

reduce your carbon footprint." etc
2. First Reason/Example
a. 1 sentence summarizing your first reason/example
b. 1" supporting quote
i. Use quotation marks and cite source
c. 1-2 sentences explaining why this quote explains your reason
d. 2nd supporting quote
e. 1-2 sentences explaining how 2 quote explains your reason
3. Second Reason/Example
a. 1 sentence summarizing your second reason/example
b. 1" supporting quote
i. Use quotation marks and cite source
c. 1-2 sentences explaining why this quote explains your reason
d. 2d supporting quote
e. 1-2 sentences explaining how 2d quote explains your reason
4. Counterclaim
a. 1-2 sentences introducing the other side of the argument
i. Make it CLEAR this is not the side you support
li. A way to do this is to start the sentence with "Opponents of this view claim..." or similar
b. 2-3 sentences explaining why the other side is actually wrong
i. Include at least one quote or paraphrase from a source
Il. A good transition word to start the first of these sentences if "However, ..."
c. 1 sentence summarizing why the opponent is wrong
5. Conclusion
a. 1 sentence restating your thesis claim
1. Use transition word(s) like "In conclusion, ..."
b. End the essay with an on-topic quote, summary, caution, moral, hopeful statement, etc
