Now that you have planned and developed your ideas, it is time to draft your essay. Before drafting your essay, look at the ideas you will present. Consider the best way to organize your ideas and structure your essay. If you are highlighting aspects of your culture, you could use a 3.5 essay. If you are sharing cultural experiences throughout your life, you could structure your essay chronologically. If you are presenting more than one culture, you could consider a compare-contrast format. The decision is yours and should be determined by thinking about how your ideas are connected and the best way to present them. Culture refers to the customs and norms of a particular group of people. There are several aspects of culture, including social organization, traditions, religion, language, arts, government, and economy. In an essay, describe your culture, selecting the most important parts of your culture and the impact they have on you. Use your planning document as a guide to draft your essay. Be sure to copy and paste your drafted essay into your notebook to use later in this lesson.
