She also documented the lynchings. She was continuously threatened for her work and had to leave Memphis and move to Chicago. She worked toward ending the lynching by exposing the barbaric practice prevalent in the south. Although the lynchings were claimed to be only for black criminals but in reality it was used to oppress African Americans.
