I believe that B is the right answer that Australia was first established as a penal colony so it was mostly populated by convicts from the British Isles, other than the Aborigines. There is an Irish song called the Black Velvet Band which if it was stolen the person who stole it was sent to "Van Diemen's Land or Australia.
