The first equation will be for how many tickets there are 
S+A=12
The second will be the cost.
4S+8A=60
We will multiply the first equation by -4 to eliminate S.
-4S-4A=-48
4S+8A=60
4A=12
12÷4=3
So he bought 3 adult tickets, meaning the remaining tickets had to be students.
