The executive branch carries out laws. The President of the United States is the head of the executive branch. He works together with the Vice President, department heads ( called Cabinet members) and heads of independent agencies.

They are called: U.S. Department of : Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Labor, State, Interior, Treasury, Transportation and Veteran Affairs.
