He treated colonists as if they were disobedient children, his arbitrary decision soon  made many people angry. He ordered Anglican services to be held in the old South meeting House. He  also strictly enforced the navigation acts.  He had also imposed new taxes on the dominion and on imported wine, rum, and brandy.
