Last weekend , 5% of tickets sold at sea world were discount tickets. If seaworld sold 60 tickets in all , how many discount tickets did it sell? Use the percent proportion

So lets take a look at what we know:

5% of the tickets were discount
100% of the tickets is equal to 60 tickets

From this information we can create the proportion:

[tex] \frac{x}{5} = \frac{60}{100} [/tex].

Cross Multiply to get [tex]100x=300[/tex]

Divide 100 on each side to get [tex]x=3[/tex] .

Three discount tickets were sold.
