First. The function is defined only for [tex]x\geq 0 [/tex] as shown in the Figure. This is also true because of [tex]\sqrt{x}[/tex] where [tex]x[/tex] must be greater (or equal) than zero.
Second. The range of the function are the values of [tex]y\geq -8[/tex].
