Protists are different from bacteria and archaea in that;
They are at least ten times larger
They are eukaryotes
They consist of both single- and multi- celled organisms.
In contrast to prokaryotic cells, eukaryotic cells are highly organized. Bacteria and archea are prokaryotes, while all other organisms including protists, plants, animals and Fungi-are eukaryotes. Many diverse organisms such as algae, amoeba, ciliates fit the general moniker of protist.
