For a science experiment, students need to find 25% of 60 grams. Jada says,”I can find this by calculating 1/4 of 60.” Andre says,”25% of 60 means 25/100 * 60.” Lin says both of their methods work. Do you agree with Lin? Explain your reasoning.

Lin is correct; both of their methods will work. Jada’s method is 1/4 of 60 which is basically dividing 60 by 4 which will give us 15. And Andre is using a cross multiplication method. He says to put 25 over 100 and then multiply by 60. That will also give 15. And to confirm that 25% of 60g is 15, you turn 25% into a decimal; 0.25 and then and then multiply it by 60. That will give u 15.

Statement(1): Jada says,”I can find this by calculating 1/4 of 60.”

Statement(2): Andre says,”25% of 60 means 25/100 * 60.”

Hence,Statement(1)  is Correct.

In Statement(2) Andre said, 25% of 60 means [tex]\rm \dfrac{25}{100} \times60[/tex]

According to Andre, Statement(2) is Correct

Therefore, both the methods are correct method to solve the experiment. I agree with Lin.
