Solve the following system of linear equations by either the substitution or linear combination (elimination) method. SHOW ALL WORK and write your solution as a coordinate pair.

4x + 3y = 12
-2x - 5y = 1

4x + 3y = 12
-4x - 10y = 2
add both equations
-7y = 14
divide by 7
y = -2
plug into first equation
4x + 3(-2) = 12
solve for x

x = 4.5
