Is that last sentence referring to the population mean and variance or the sample mean and variance?

If: "Suppose that the weight of a randomly selected bag has a distribution with mean 50 lb and variance 1 lb^2. ..." is the last sentence, it is referring to a sample mean and variance, as they "randomly selected [a] bag" (note randomly), which means that they do not test the others.

I believe your answer will be "sample mean and variance"
