HELP PLEASE PLEASE

You are a geologist studying an unusual rock formation in a recently discovered cave. In order to determine if the rocks contain the mineral calcite (CaCaO3) you test it by putting a few drops of hydrochloric acid (HCl) on it. The rock sample begins to fizz and bubbles form, indicating it contains calcite. What is this an example of?
A. Ability to rust
B. Chemical change
C. Physical change
D. Identity property

Respuesta :

The answer is not B, because even though the rock goes through a chemical change we’re trying to find the properties of the rock. The test does not include rust, so A is incorrect. A physical change would be a change in shape or color, and the rock did not change that way, so C is also wrong. Identity property(D), is your correct answer because Identity property can be explained as properties that are found during or after a chemical reaction/change. Since we found calcite by having the rock go through a chemical change, we have identified a property.
