To advertise means to show off and try to explain and talk about to a larger crowd, such as an advertisement. Advertisements for products are everywhere and try to convince others about their opinion of this product. In this case, advertising means to tell others, and the narrator seems to be worried that other people will advertise (share) the information with others if they are not quiet enough. This is practically the definition of when people gossip among each other, and therefore A is the correct answer.
