The way in which the public can be involved in nation building through sport is when they solely support the representative of their country. However, this will impede if they don’t support their own representative instead, they support others. They will not wear their country’s honor with pride.

Two issues in sports which can impede nation building would be drug issues such as doping concerns which might arise when we're talking about elite level sportmanship. Another issue might be bad performance which has the opposite effect of nation building for a sports team.
