a). There is no reason to be afraid of this part !
Forget about the walls for a minute. This part is only
talking about the square, where it sits on the ground.
The base is a square. That means four equal sides.
The distance all the way around it (perimeter) is 3,024 ft.
The length of each side is
3024 ft / 4 = 756 ft .
The area of a square is (length of side)²
The little ² means 'squared'.
Area = (length of side) x (length of side)
= (756 ft) x (756 ft)
= 571,536 square feet .
b). Now we need to find the volume of the square pyramid.
I don't know the formula for it. You may have learned it, but
you don't remember it. I had to go look it up. You could do
the same thing.
Volume of a square pyramid =
(area of the square base)
times
(1/3 of the height).
Do we know the area of the square base ? Yes !
Do we know the height ? Yes ! They gave it to us.
All we have to do to find the volume is plug the numbers
that we have into the formula that I went and looked up.
Area of the square base = 571,536 square feet
Height = 460 feet
Volume = (1/3) x (571,536 ft²) x (460 ft) .
I'm sure you can take it from here and polish it off.
Remember to multiply your units too, so you wind up
with ft³ (cubic feet) for volume.
