He felt determined to conquer Tyre. Up until this point, not many people/cities/civilizations could face up to Alexander and not be defeated. Up until this point in his career he had defeated everyone who stood in his way and Tyre wasn't going to stop him from reaching his end goal of conquering all of the known world.
