a women lifts a 300 newton child a distance of 1.5 meters in 0.75 seconds. What is her power output in lifting the child?

AL2006

           Power = (work) / (time)

   but                                               Work = (force) x (distance)

so        Power = (force) x (distance) / (time)

                        = (300 N) x (1.5 m) / (0.75 sec)

                        =           (450 J)        / (0.75 sec)

                        =               600 J/sec  =  600 watts .

        600 watts  =  0.8 horsepower !

        Poor lady !

        The reason for that is that her kid weighs almost 70 pounds !
