ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) is an unstable molecule and on hydrolysis results in the formation of ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) by the removal of a phosphate group from the ATP. This reaction that is conversion of ATP to ADP, supplies energy for life processes so, it is an extremely crucial reaction.

The hydrolysis of ATP to ADP is shown in the image and the bond that is broken in this hydrolysis is also highlighted.
