Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory is a framework developed by Geert Hofstede which explains the effects of a society's culture on the values of its members, and how these values relate to behavior. There are six main dimensions of national culture:

  • Power distance index (PDI)
  • Individualism vs. collectivism (IDV)
  • Uncertainty avoidance (UAI)
  • Masculinity vs. femininity (MAS)
  • Long-term orientation vs. short-term orientation (LTO)
  • Indulgence vs. restraint (IND)

Answer: A long or short term view of work, life and other elements of society is better addressed by the long-term orientation vs. short-term orientation (LTO) dimension.
