                 In any society the number of children produce depend upon the following factors:

1. desire for large families

2. prevalent child mortality

3. knowledge- knowledge on to use family planning, available options, side effects and migration measures, available services and cost.

4. access to quality family planning services  

                      The role of children in society as future providers for family is an important determinant of fertility rate. Africa is still poor under developed and primarily an agrarian/rural society. Mortality rates are also high for children and adults. As a result women tend to produce more child as they know that some of them will die during childhood or adulthood.
